Palestinian Prisoners Face Daily Abuse Inside Israel’s Ofer Prison

Gaza Herald – Palestinian prisoners held in Israel’s Ofer Prison are reporting systematic daily abuse, including overcrowding, beatings, humiliation, and severe deprivation of basic necessities, according to the Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs. Up to 16 prisoners are crammed into a single room, forced to sleep on the floor with only one blanket each, while clothing and hygiene supplies are heavily restricted.

Meals are deliberately limited to near-starvation levels, with prisoners receiving little more than bread and yogurt, and only one small portion of protein per week. Detainees have no access to adequate hygiene; many are forced to bathe in cold water and wash themselves using dish soap instead of soap or shampoo.

Prisoners report constant raids, isolation, beatings, and punishments for minor or fabricated reasons, including standing near windows or praying together. Some detainees have been subjected to electric shocks and solitary confinement, part of a broader campaign of coercion and psychological torture that Palestinian groups say is an extension of Israel’s ongoing genocide and attempts to break the spirit of the imprisoned population.
