Gaza Children Return to Ruined Schools After Two Years of Israeli Genocide

Gaza Herald – After two years of Israeli bombardment, famine, and mass killings, children in Gaza are slowly returning to schools under a fragile ceasefire. UNRWA has reopened “temporary learning spaces” for over 25,000 students, while around 300,000 more are expected to continue lessons online.

Many classrooms remain destroyed, with no desks or chairs, and evidence of families who took shelter in the buildings still visible. In schools like Al Hassaina in Nuseirat, children sit on the floor trying to study amidst rubble.

Parents expressed cautious relief. For two years, children had no access to proper education and spent their days fetching water or playing in the streets. Now, some are able to hold notebooks again, but the destruction and trauma remain all around them.
