Over 16,000 Critically Ill Trapped as Israel Blocks Medical Evacuations

Gaza Herald – More than 16,500 critically ill Palestinians remain trapped in Gaza, unable to leave for lifesaving treatment as Israel continues to block medical evacuations despite coordination efforts by the World Health Organization (WHO). Thousands are at risk of death as Gaza’s health system collapses under the weight of the ongoing genocide and siege.

According to a UN situation report, Egypt has received the largest number of evacuated patients, 3,995, followed by the United Arab Emirates (1,450), Qatar (970), and Türkiye (437). In Europe, Italy has taken in 201 patients for treatment, showing limited but critical international support amid the blockade.

The UN confirmed that at least 3,800 Palestinian children still require urgent medical evacuation abroad. Humanitarian organizations have warned that every day of delay costs lives, calling Israel’s restriction of medical transfers a violation of international law and part of its systematic effort to erase Gaza’s population through deprivation and neglect.
