Gaza Herald – The director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, has warned that Israel’s continued closure of Gaza’s crossings is pushing thousands of patients toward certain killed, as hospitals run out of essential medical supplies and equipment.
Abu Salmiya said medical teams have prepared evacuation lists for patients, but Israel’s blockade prevents them from leaving for urgent treatment.
More than 2,000 amputees and over 5,000 cancer patients require care abroad, while kidney and chronic disease patients are dying due to Israel’s ban on medical imports.
He added that 3,000 people have lost their sight and over 1,000 their hearing, many of whom need immediate surgical interventions.
Abu Salmiya condemned what he called Israel’s ongoing genocidal war against Gaza’s sick and wounded, using the closure of crossings and denial of medical aid as weapons of extermination.
