Gaza Herald – Even as Gaza celebrates the long-awaited ceasefire, Israeli forces have continued their attack across the Strip, shattering the fragile sense of relief.
At least one Palestinian was killed and several others wounded in an Israeli airstrike near Hamad City, northwest of Khan Younis, according to medical officials at Nasser Hospital.
In a separate attack, Israeli drones targeted Yarmouk School west of Gaza City, injuring multiple civilians who had sought shelter there. The renewed strikes come as a bitter reminder of Israel’s pattern of violating ceasefire commitments, a continuation of the genocide that has devastated Gaza for over two years.
Despite official announcements claiming Israel would halt offensive operations and begin withdrawal procedures once the ceasefire takes effect, the ground reality tells a different story.
Israeli forces remain deployed inside urban centers of Gaza, carrying out sporadic strikes and maintaining a heavy military presence. Residents report ongoing explosions and movement of armored units, while Israeli sources confirm preparations for withdrawal but admit it has yet to begin.
For Palestinians, the ceasefire represents a rare window for relief and survival after enduring relentless bombardment, starvation, and displacement. Yet with Israel’s attacks still ongoing, Gaza’s people remain caught between cautious hope and grim uncertainty, waiting to see if the promise of peace will finally become reality or collapse under the weight of continued occupation and destruction.
