GazaHerald — To bring an end to the war and secure the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, Hamas announced on Friday evening that it accepts the US-led proposal to release all Israeli captives, both living and dead.
In its statement, Hamas said it agreed “to release all Israeli captives, living and deceased, according to the exchange formula outlined in Trump’s plan, provided the necessary field conditions for the swap are met.” The Movement affirmed its readiness to immediately begin negotiations with mediators—Qatar, Egypt, and the US—to finalize the details.
Hamas added that its decision followed extended consultations within its leadership bodies, with Palestinian factions, and with mediators and allies, aiming to adopt a responsible, unified position on the proposal.
The group expressed gratitude for Arab, Islamic, international, and US presidential efforts, saying they could help end the Gaza war, facilitate a prisoner exchange, and allow the immediate entry of humanitarian aid.
Hamas also noted its support for transferring Gaza’s administration to a Palestinian authority made up of independent technocrats, based on national consensus and backed by Arab and Islamic states. It stressed that elements in Trump’s proposal regarding Gaza’s future and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people require a unified Palestinian stance and must align with relevant international resolutions.
