Gaza Herald- The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has warned about the ongoing forced Israeli evacuation orders, stating that nearly one million people have been forcibly displaced from their homes, following Israeli claims that the south is a safe zone.
Stéphane Dujarric, the UN spokesperson, warned about the escalating and ongoing Israeli military operations, saying that they “could have even more catastrophic consequences for civilians across the Gaza Strip if their intensity escalates.”
He stressed that the continuous Israeli classification of Gaza as a “high-risk combat zone” has jeopardized people’s lives, hindering humanitarian professionals from carrying out their duties to deliver essential aid to those in need.
On Friday, Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee confirmed that Gaza is considered a “dangerous combat area,” asserting that the temporary local ceasefires are ineffective and have no bearing on the situation in the city.
If Israel carries out its plans to control Gaza, countless Palestinians could be killed, and the humanitarian situation there could further deteriorate, according to UNRWA communications adviser Annan Abu Hama, speaking to Al Jazeera.
The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), a global initiative monitoring food security and malnutrition, warned about the spread of diseases in Gaza due to the lack of hygiene and a failing health system.
The IPC has warned about the widespread spread of diseases, threatening to reach Deir al-Balah (central Gaza) and Khan Yunis (south) by the end of the month. It confirmed that over half a million people have experienced severe hunger and deprivation, calling on the international community to pressure Israel to lift the siege on Gaza’s crossings to save lives and not to worsen the humanitarian situation there.
