Gaza Herald – Dr. Muhammad Abu Salmiya, director of al-Shifa Hospital in northern Gaza, has issued an urgent alert about a rapidly spreading “new virus” sweeping the enclave. Patients are exhibiting high fever, severe joint pain, runny nose, persistent cough, and diarrhea lasting more than a week.
According to Dr. Abu Salmiya, the outbreak is fueled by widespread malnutrition, limited access to clean water, inadequate hygiene supplies, and dangerously overcrowded conditions in tents.
“The virus is pushing our already exhausted health system to the breaking point,” he warned, highlighting hospitals struggling to provide care with critically limited resources.
Authorities are calling for immediate international medical aid and swift intervention to prevent the virus from overwhelming Gaza’s fragile healthcare network.
