Gaza Herald- Gaza’s Government Media Office has reported that just 14 percent of essential food and humanitarian aid has been allowed into the territory over the past month, as Israel’s ongoing siege severely restricts supplies and worsens the region’s hunger crisis.
In a statement, the office accused Israeli authorities of committing a “systematic starvation crime” against Gaza’s population. The report highlighted that 313 people, including 119 children, have already died from hunger and malnutrition, with the most vulnerable being children, the elderly, and the sick.
Officials further noted that Israeli forces have closed all border crossings and prohibited the import of 430 critical food items, leaving an 86 percent shortfall in humanitarian aid. The blocked items include essential staples such as eggs, red and white meat, fish, cheeses, dairy products, fruits, vegetables, nutritional supplements, and dozens of other items vital for children, patients, and pregnant women.
In the past five days alone, only 467 aid trucks entered Gaza out of 3,000 expected, most of which were reportedly looted under what the office described as “deliberate security chaos” orchestrated by Israel to enforce hunger and disorder. Over the past 30 days, 2,654 trucks have delivered aid, far below the anticipated 18,000 trucks, representing less than 15 percent of actual needs. Many of these shipments were reportedly stolen, and Israel continues to block full deliveries, prevent proper security for incoming aid, and close crossings, undermining the work of humanitarian organizations.
The office stressed that Gaza requires more than 600 trucks of aid daily to meet the basic needs of 2.4 million people, a demand made even more urgent by the near-total collapse of infrastructure due to continuous bombing, destruction, and forced displacement.
Israeli Genocide Escalating
Israel, with U.S. support, has been accused of committing ongoing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, including mass killings, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring international calls and directives from the International Court of Justice to halt the attacks. The office held Israel and its allies fully responsible for the humanitarian disaster, urging the United Nations, Arab and Islamic states, and the international community to take serious action to open crossings, ensure a steady flow of aid, especially food, baby formula, and life-saving medicine, and hold Israel accountable for its crimes against civilians.
Despite allowing limited aid and some shipments of humanitarian goods, famine continues in Gaza, as most trucks are reportedly looted with Israeli protection, leaving hundreds of thousands without sufficient food and supplies. Since March 2, Israel has closed all crossings into Gaza, effectively preventing the entry of essential humanitarian aid, even as trucks pile up on Gaza’s borders.
As of Tuesday, Palestinian authorities report that the ongoing Israeli siege and attacks have left 62,819 dead and 158,629 injured, most of them women and children, with over 9,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and a famine that has already claimed the lives of 303 Palestinians, including 117 children.
