Gaza Herald- The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) reported that “a real child survival crisis” exists in Gaza, following the official declaration of famine. The organization warned that it is “already too late” for many children.
The organization stated that over 37 people, including four children, were killed in a series of Israeli strikes on Gaza in the early hours of this morning.
It called for full humanitarian access and an immediate ceasefire, saying that they are the only lifelines left to save lives in Gaza.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, two more people have starved to death in Gaza over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll from starvation and malnutrition to around 271–273, including 112 children.
On Friday, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) system said that 514,000 people -close to a quarter of Palestinians in Gaza- are experiencing famine.
The war in the Gaza Strip has taken an unconscionable toll on children. More than 50,000 have been reported killed or injured, with more on the brink of starvation. Over half a million people in Gaza are trapped in famine due to the absence of food, water, and medical aid. No child will be spared from the horrors of war without the imprint of trauma.
