Israeli Strike on Displaced Families’ Tents Kills 17 in Khan Yunis

GazaHerald – Israeli occupation forces carried out a massacre at dawn on Saturday, killing at least 17 displaced Palestinians, including six children, after shelling tents sheltering families in the Asdaa area northwest of Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip.

A medical source at Nasser Hospital confirmed the toll, while the Kuwait Specialized Field Hospital released images showing bodies and wounded children brought in for treatment following the strike.

The attack on the makeshift camp was part of a wider Israeli assault across the Gaza Strip. Hours earlier, an Israeli drone bombed the Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis, killing a woman and four children. At the same time, aircraft struck targets in central and northern parts of the city, while occupation forces carried out widespread demolitions inside and north of Khan Yunis.

The Nasser Medical Complex reported that several starving Palestinians were shot and injured near an aid distribution point north of Rafah.

Further north, Gaza City came under intense bombardment. At dawn, Israeli forces launched six airstrikes in less than 15 minutes on residential blocks in the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of the city.

The strikes coincided with a ground push by tanks and heavy shelling, part of Israel’s preparations for “Operation Gideon 2,” a planned invasion aimed at seizing Gaza City. Thousands of residents have begun fleeing westward and toward the central coastal areas in fear of an imminent assault.

The destruction extended to Jabalia, where Israeli warplanes bombed residential buildings and drones dropped explosives on homes in the old city. In the central Gaza Strip, Al-Awda Hospital reported injuries after drones hit an apartment in the Nuseirat refugee camp. At the same time, separate strikes targeted houses in Deir al-Balah and the Maghazi refugee camp.

According to hospital reports, at least 65 Palestinians were killed across the Strip on Friday, including 37 in Gaza City. Among the dead were six starving civilians who had been targeted while searching for food.
