Gaza Herald- The UN agency for Palestinian Refugees, UNRWA, warned about the poor living conditions in Gaza, urging the international community to take immediate action to stop Israel’s crimes.
It added, “Inaction and silence are complicity. It’s time for statements to turn into action, and for an immediate ceasefire.”
More than 100 international aid organizations and human rights groups have also warned about mass starvation and the rapidly increasing number of malnourished people, calling on governments to take urgent action to pressure Israel to lift the siege and save lives.
The UN said that “children in Gaza are dying from starvation and bombardments”.
“Entire families, neighbourhoods, and a generation are being wiped out,” UNRWA posted on social media.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) earlier stated that a large proportion of the population of Gaza was “starving”.
“I don’t know what you would call it other than mass starvation – and it’s man-made,” the head of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said.
Over 217 people have died from hunger as Israel continues to impose restrictions on the humanitarian aid entering Gaza as one in five children has been diagnosed with malnutrition, and cases are ramping up due to the absence of food and medicine supplies.
