In Pictures: Gaza Faces Catastrophic Hunger as Starvation Claims More Lives

Gaza Herald- As the humanitarian crisis deepens in Gaza, aid organizations and medical staff warn that starvation has reached a catastrophic level, with fatalities now increasing rapidly.

More than two million Palestinians in the besieged enclave are facing severe food shortages, and the suffering is no longer limited to children, adults, too, are succumbing to the effects of prolonged hunger caused by Israel’s ongoing blockade since March.

Images emerging from Gaza show the harrowing toll: Hidaya, a 31-year-old mother, holds her severely malnourished 18-month-old son, Mohammed al-Mutawaq, inside a tent at the Shati refugee camp near Gaza City.

According to the UN’s World Food Programme, close to 100,000 women and children are in urgent need of treatment for acute malnutrition. Alarmingly, nearly one-third of Gaza’s population is reportedly going days without any food. Health professionals on the ground say they have exhausted their supplies of essential medicines and treatments.

The World Health Organization confirms a steep increase in starvation and disease, stating that a significant share of the population is now on the brink of famine.

The worsening crisis reflects a deliberate humanitarian collapse, with Gaza’s residents left to suffer amid international inaction.
