Israel Strikes Syrian Defense Ministry Amid Regional Attacks

Gaza Herald- Israeli drones targeted the Syrian General Staff building in the capital, Damascus, with several missiles. The Ministry of Defense headquarters was also targeted, and the drones launched an attack near the Presidential Palace.

Two civilians were injured as a result of an Israeli airstrike targeting central Damascus on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Syrian news channel Al-Ikhbariya.

Meanwhile, an Israeli security source announced that the Israeli army struck the entrance to the Syrian General Staff headquarters, sending a message to President Ahmad Al-Shara regarding the events in Suwayda in southern Syria, according to the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation.

Knesset member Katz stated, “We will continue to act strongly in Suwayda to destroy the forces that attacked the Druze until they withdraw,” adding that the strikes targeted “a site near the General Command in Damascus and the attacks will escalate unless the message is understood.”

He added, “For the past 24 hours, we have been carrying out escalating strikes targeting regime sites in Suwayda.”

Katz continued, warning that the pace of strikes in Syria will increase if Damascus does not understand the message, adding that southern Syria will become a demilitarized zone.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the situation in Suwayda and southwestern Syria is very serious, adding, “We are working to rescue our Druze brothers and to eliminate regime gangs.”

Syrian defense and interior ministry forces entered the city of Suwayda last Monday in an attempt to regain control of troubled neighborhoods to restore security and stability.

The Israeli Air Force bombed government targets in Suwayda province on Wednesday, coinciding with renewed clashes in the city between Syrian security forces and armed groups.

The events in Suwayda erupted after armed confrontations between Druze and Bedouin groups in the city’s neighborhoods a few days ago, which resulted in deaths and injuries. In response, Syrian army and interior ministry forces entered the city seeking to restore order.

Israel continues to carry out widespread and multiple attacks across the Arab region, striking everywhere without discrimination.
From Gaza and Lebanon to Yemen and Syria, its forces conduct indiscriminate bombings targeting civilians and infrastructure, exacerbating humanitarian conditions and deepening the suffering of the people. These actions reflect Israel’s lawlessness and refusal to abide by international laws, confirming its role as a primary source of instability and unrest in the region.
