Gaza Herald- The entire staff of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, was evacuated on Monday after Israeli occupation forces advanced directly toward the hospital, amid an ongoing military escalation that is placing further pressure on the already devastated healthcare system in northern Gaza.
Medical services reported that the hospital’s staff had been fully evacuated, while a correspondent for the Palestinian Information Center said medical personnel were forced to withdraw after Israeli tanks advanced toward the facility.
The evacuation comes as the healthcare sector in northern Gaza faces extremely difficult conditions amid continued restrictions and attacks, as well as severe shortages of fuel and medical supplies, putting the lives of patients and wounded Palestinians at increasing risk.
The advance of Israeli military vehicles toward Kamal Adwan has renewed fears of a repeat of previous sieges and raids on the hospital during earlier stages of the war, which severely disrupted its ability to provide medical care.
The hospital was subjected to an Israeli assault in December 2023, during which a number of its medical staff were detained, including its director, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, while parts of the hospital grounds were destroyed.
The prolonged siege also led to the destruction of electricity generators and oxygen stations, while restrictions on the entry of fuel and medical supplies paralyzed operations in several hospital departments and forced the facility out of service at various stages.
The latest developments come amid continued pressure on the healthcare system in northern Gaza and Israeli military movements in the area, placing patients, wounded Palestinians and medical personnel at growing risk.
Kamal Adwan Hospital has become one of the most prominent symbols of medical resilience in northern Gaza, having continued to provide healthcare services during different stages of the war despite repeated sieges, attacks and severe shortages of essential resources.
