Iranian Revolutionary Guard Commander Announces Targeting of Oil Tanker in Hormuz Strait

Gaza Herald – Admiral Ali Aghamouri, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, announced on Friday that Iranian forces targeted the Trend oil tanker. The vessel, flying the Togo flag, was forced to stop after a fire erupted while attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz.

In a press statement released on Friday, Aghamouri asserted that the ship attempted to navigate the waterway illegally. He noted that the tanker was struck and compelled to halt following the outbreak of flames during its transit through the strategic passage.

The naval commander further claimed that the incident occurred due to provocation and deception orchestrated by the United States military. He accused American forces of inciting the situation, which led to the confrontation with the commercial vessel in the contested zone.

Emphasizing continued control over the region, Aghamouri affirmed that his forces maintain strict oversight of the Strait of Hormuz. He warned that any unauthorized passage would result in the destruction of the offending ship, reiterating the consequences for violations.
