Gaza Herald – Despite months of a so-called ceasefire, Israel’s assault on the Gaza Strip has never stopped. Airstrikes, artillery shelling, home demolitions, and daily attacks on civilians continue, while international attention has steadily shifted away, raising fears that Israel is exploiting global silence to deepen its military control and humanitarian siege.
A “Ceasefire” That Never Ended
Recent days have seen a sharp escalation in Israeli attacks across Gaza, with repeated airstrikes and artillery bombardments killing and injuring civilians.
One of the deadliest attacks targeted a residential apartment in northern Gaza City, killing an entire family of five, a father, mother, and three children. Their only surviving child escaped death because he was away from home when the strike occurred. Hospitals also reported multiple additional fatalities from attacks across the Strip, while other strikes in Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood killed more civilians and targeted displaced families sheltering in tents.
Since the ceasefire came into effect in October 2025, Gaza’s Ministry of Health reports that Israeli violations have killed more than 1,140 Palestinians and injured over 3,700 others, underscoring that the attack has continued despite the truce.
Israel Expands Military Control
Israeli violations extend far beyond airstrikes.
Although the ceasefire agreement envisioned a gradual military withdrawal, Israeli forces have instead expanded their control over Gaza. Areas previously designated under military occupation have steadily grown, with Israeli-controlled territory now exceeding 60% of the Strip, while Israeli officials have openly discussed plans to expand that figure even further.
The constantly shifting “Yellow Line” has pushed civilians into increasingly confined areas, while new military positions, earth barriers, and fortified outposts continue to spread across the enclave.
Humanitarian Crisis Deepens
At the same time, Gaza’s humanitarian catastrophe continues to worsen.
Palestinian authorities say the territory requires approximately 600 aid trucks every day, yet only 190–250 trucks are currently entering, roughly one-third of the minimum daily need.
The severe shortage of food, medicine, and humanitarian supplies has forced many community kitchens to shut down, leaving thousands of displaced families without regular meals.
According to Palestinian officials, 77% of Gaza’s population now faces critical levels of food insecurity, while more than 100,000 children are at risk of acute malnutrition. Around 37,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women are also suffering from severe nutritional deficiencies.
Police Forces Also Under Fire
Israeli attacks have increasingly targeted Gaza’s civilian police force, its headquarters, vehicles, and personnel.
Security analysts say these attacks are intended to weaken one of the last functioning civilian institutions responsible for maintaining public order, securing aid distribution, protecting public property, and preventing social collapse amid unprecedented humanitarian conditions.
As essential institutions come under repeated attack, concerns continue to grow over the potential breakdown of public order throughout the Strip.
Campaign to Return Gaza to the World’s Attention
As international media coverage declines, Palestinian journalists, activists, and humanitarian workers launched a digital campaign on 16 July under the hashtag “They Lied to You”, aiming to challenge claims that the genocide has ended.
The campaign highlights the ongoing reality in Gaza, emphasizing that civilians continue to face daily bombardment, displacement, hunger, and destruction despite the existence of a ceasefire.
Videos shared as part of the campaign feature wounded children and displaced families describing how the attack has never truly stopped, calling on the international community not to look away while Gaza continues to endure relentless attacks and an escalating humanitarian catastrophe.
