Gaza Authorities Dissolve Emergency Committee Ahead of Administrative Transfer

Gaza Herald – Gaza’s governmental authorities announced the dissolution of the Government Emergency Committee, marking a formal step toward transferring administrative responsibilities to the proposed National Committee for Gaza Administration as part of an agreed transitional framework with Palestinian political factions.

The announcement coincided with the resignation of Mohammad Abdel Khaleq Al-Farra, head of the Government Emergency Committee and acting head of the Government Follow-up Committee, in a move to facilitate the planned handover and implement the administrative transition.

In a statement issued Monday, the Government Media Office said all legal and administrative arrangements for the transfer of authority had been completed following consultations with representatives of Palestinian factions, civil society organizations, and a United Nations representative. Officials said that the process is a part of a broader national effort to reorganize governance in Gaza.

The statement added that government employees will continue carrying out their technical and professional duties to ensure uninterrupted public services during the transition period. They are expected to remain in their positions under the supervision of the National Committee for Gaza Administration once it officially assumes its responsibilities.

Authorities called for the swift empowerment of the new committee, arguing that the transition could help ease Gaza’s humanitarian crisis and strengthen civilian resilience amid Israel’s ongoing attacks, blockade, delays in reconstruction efforts, continued border closures, and the absence of a full Israeli military withdrawal from the territory.

Officials said the move reflects what they described as a commitment to Palestinian national interests and efforts to restructure Gaza’s governance while addressing the severe humanitarian conditions facing the population.
