Gaza Herald – Jabalia Al-Nazla Municipality has warned of a worsening water and sewage crisis as severe fuel shortages continue to disrupt essential services across northern Gaza.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the municipality said the lack of fuel, lubricants, and generator supplies has significantly affected the operation of water wells and sewage facilities, leading to a sharp decline in services provided to residents.
Municipal officials explained that insufficient fuel deliveries from aid providers have forced crews to reduce operating hours for water wells and sewage pumps, deepening an already critical humanitarian situation.
The municipality also warned that Al-Saftawi basin is nearing overflow, with water levels rising to five meters out of its original seven-meter depth, raising serious environmental and public health concerns.
Officials announced the suspension of fuel allocations for secondary wells until adequate quantities of fuel, oils, and filters become available, stressing that continued shortages could accelerate the collapse of basic services and increase the risk of disease outbreaks and water insecurity.
Jabalia Municipality called on local, regional, and international partners to urgently facilitate the entry of fuel, lubricants, and essential maintenance supplies, warning that Gaza’s already devastated infrastructure is approaching a breaking point amid ongoing restrictions and years of blockade.
