Gaza Herald – Five Palestinian children were rescued after part of a residential building belonging to the Washah family collapsed in Gaza City’s al-Sabra neighborhood on Friday, according to Gaza’s Civil Defense.
Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said emergency crews rushed to the scene and pulled the five children from beneath the rubble. They sustained minor injuries and were rescued without life-threatening harm.
Basal said Civil Defense teams remained at the site to remove hazards and secure the area against further collapse.
The incident highlights the continuing danger posed by unstable buildings across Gaza, where widespread destruction has left many Palestinians living in damaged and increasingly unsafe structures.
The building collapse in Gaza City’s al-Sabra neighborhood highlights another deadly consequence of Israel’s destruction of the enclave: Palestinians are being forced to live in buildings severely weakened by repeated bombardment because safe shelter is increasingly scarce.
Across Gaza, damaged homes and residential buildings remain at risk of collapse, leaving displaced families with few safe alternatives. With multiple families often sheltering in already compromised structures, even a partial collapse can put many lives at risk.
The danger does not end when the bombs stop falling. For Palestinians in Gaza, buildings damaged by Israeli attacks can remain deadly long afterwards, turning the very places families seek for shelter into another threat to their lives.
