Gaza Herald – At least 300 Palestinian children have been killed in Gaza during the 300 days since the ceasefire was announced in October 2025, according to UNICEF, highlighting the continued toll on children despite an agreement intended to halt Israeli attacks and allow unrestricted humanitarian aid.
The agency said the figure amounts to an average of one child killed every day since the ceasefire took effect, with hundreds more children injured, many suffering life-altering wounds.
“A ceasefire that leaves an average of one child dead each and every day is failing children,” said UNICEF Middle East and North Africa Regional Director Edouard Beigbeder.
UNICEF warned that families remain confined to roughly one-third of the Gaza Strip, living in overcrowded and unsafe conditions amid destroyed buildings, rubble, and mounting waste.
Children across Gaza continue to face acute malnutrition, disease, unsafe drinking water, damaged sanitation systems, and the collapse of essential public services, the agency said.
While recent diplomatic efforts have outlined a roadmap toward implementing the next phase of the ceasefire and expanding humanitarian relief, UNICEF stressed that children need tangible improvements rather than renewed promises.
“For children in Gaza, the test is simple,” Beigbeder said. “Does the killing stop? Does aid reach them at scale? Do hospitals reopen and water flow? Will children return to school safely? Children have heard promises before. This time, agreements must translate into action.”
UNICEF renewed its call to comply with international humanitarian and human rights law, urging the protection of children, the restoration of access to healthcare, education, clean water, and food, and the facilitation of safe, rapid, and unhindered humanitarian access throughout the Gaza Strip.
