Gaza Herald _Saba Fayez Saeed Rabah, the daughter of a Palestinian teacher killed during Israel’s war on Gaza, earned the highest score in the scientific stream of the 2026 Tawjihi examinations in the Gaza Strip, achieving an outstanding average of 99.9%.
Her achievement comes amid the devastating humanitarian conditions facing Gaza, where students have continued their education despite war, displacement, and the widespread destruction of schools and universities.
Saba’s success carries special significance after the loss of her father, Fayez Rabah, a 58-year-old teacher from Khan Younis, who was killed on June 5, 2024, in the central Gaza Strip during an Israeli attack.
Her story has become a powerful symbol of the determination and resilience shown by Palestinian students who have continued pursuing their education despite losing loved ones, enduring repeated displacement, and studying under extremely difficult conditions.
The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced the 2026 Tawjihi results on Friday, revealing the names of the highest-achieving students across different academic streams.
Saba ranked first in the scientific branch across Gaza’s southern governorates, while ten students shared second place with an average score of 99.7%.
This year’s results were announced under extraordinary circumstances, as students across Gaza prepared for their exams while coping with the ongoing consequences of war, including the loss of family members, repeated displacement, and severe damage to educational institutions.
Despite studying in environments lacking even the most basic educational resources, many students demonstrated remarkable perseverance, with Saba Rabah’s achievement standing as one of the most inspiring examples.
