Israeli Approval Delays Prevent Gaza Patients From Traveling for Urgent Medical Treatment

Gaza Herald – Gaza’s Ministry of Health announced on Sunday that the scheduled departure of patients seeking medical treatment outside the Gaza Strip has been canceled after Israeli occupation authorities failed to issue the required security approvals.

In a statement, the ministry said that the main factors delaying patient transfers are the limited number of permits granted for medical travel and the prolonged waiting periods for Israeli security clearances, which can extend for several months.

The ministry revealed that it had recently submitted approximately 70 urgent life-saving medical cases, but only five patients received the necessary approvals to travel for treatment.

It renewed its appeal to international organizations and United Nations agencies to intervene urgently by increasing the number of patients permitted to leave Gaza, reducing waiting times, and accelerating travel procedures for critical medical cases.

According to the Ministry of Health, around 20,000 patients in Gaza currently require medical evacuation to receive treatment unavailable inside the territory.
