Gaza Herald _ According to Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem, recent remarks by top Israeli officials about relocating Palestinians from Gaza reflect ongoing Israeli efforts to advance forced displacement plans, despite the war’s failure to crush Palestinian steadfastness or push Palestinians off their land.
Qassem was responding to recent remarks by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz regarding continued efforts to advance proposals linked to the displacement of Gaza residents.
Hamas Says Israel Never Intended to Honor Ceasefire
According to Qassem, Katz’s comments reveal that the Israeli government was never genuinely committed to implementing the ceasefire agreement and instead intends to abandon its obligations when politically convenient.
He said the Israeli leadership continues to view forced displacement as part of its broader strategy toward Gaza despite international condemnation and repeated Palestinian rejection of any attempt to uproot the population.
Qassem added that Israel’s failure to impose its goals through months of military assault has not stopped officials from continuing to promote what he described as dangerous expansionist ambitions targeting Palestinians in Gaza.
Demands for International Response
The Hamas spokesperson called on the so-called Board of Peace, its representatives, and the United States administration to publicly address the statements and clarify their positions regarding Israel’s repeated threats connected to displacement plans.
He also urged mediator countries and states involved in the ceasefire agreement, including participants in the Sharm El Sheikh Conference, to pressure Israel to fully respect its commitments under the agreement.
Qassem warned that failing to confront such rhetoric could further undermine the fragile ceasefire and increase fears among Palestinians that Israel seeks to reshape Gaza through coercion and forced migration.
Warning Against Expulsion Plans
He additionally called on Arab governments, especially countries directly targeted in discussions surrounding displacement proposals, to take practical diplomatic and legal measures to stop what he described as efforts by Israel’s far-right government to erase the Palestinian cause through forced expulsion.
Qassem stressed that Palestinians remain committed to staying on their land despite the destruction, siege, and ongoing military attacks targeting Gaza.
