Hamas: Israel Reneging on Ceasefire Agreement, Seeking Return to Brutal Genocide in Gaza

Gaza Herald – The Hamas Movement said that the intensified Israeli airstrikes carried out overnight on a residential apartment in central Gaza, which killed ten Palestinians, including five children and two women, and wounded dozens more, constitute “a new crime” committed by the Israeli occupation army and a renewed violation of the ceasefire agreement signed in Sharm el-Sheikh.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Hamas said the escalating attacks by the Israeli government against civilians across the Gaza Strip, along with the killing of more than 20 Palestinians over the past 48 hours due to continued bombardment of residential neighborhoods, demonstrate Israel’s intention “to return to the pace of the brutal genocidal war” that devastated Gaza for nearly two years.

The Movement stressed that the targeting of homes and civilian areas reflects Israel’s ongoing disregard for international law and humanitarian protections.

Hamas also accused Israel of ignoring the efforts of the countries that sponsored the ceasefire agreement and of evading the “guarantees and commitments” made to ensure its implementation.

The Movement called on the United States and the guarantor states to “assume their responsibilities” by taking a clear stance condemning what it described as Israeli violations and by taking “urgent and serious measures” to compel Israel to abide by the terms of the agreement.

Hamas warned that the ceasefire agreement is now “at risk of collapse” as a result of the continued Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and the ongoing targeting of Palestinian civilians.
