Gaza Herald- At least four Palestinians were killed and several others injured on Friday evening after Israeli warplanes carried out two consecutive strikes targeting Gaza City, amid Israeli claims that the attacks were part of an assassination operation against a Palestinian resistance leader.
According to local sources, Israeli fighter jets fired at least two missiles at a residential apartment inside the Al-Mu’taz building in Gaza City, causing massive destruction and setting an entire floor ablaze. One Palestinian was killed in the initial strike, while several others were wounded.
The attack caused severe damage to multiple floors of the residential building, as medical crews and civil defense teams rushed to evacuate the wounded and search for victims trapped under the rubble and inside the burning apartments.
Minutes later, Israeli warplanes launched another strike targeting a civilian vehicle in Gaza City, killing at least three Palestinians. Medical sources reported that at least 13 injured people were transferred to the Al-Saraya Field Hospital operated by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society following the bombing of the apartment building.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Army Minister Israel Katz confirmed that an assassination operation targeting a resistance figure in Gaza had been carried out. However, Palestinian sources have not confirmed the identities of those killed or whether the intended target was among the casualties.
Hebrew media outlets reported that the strike on the vehicle and the bombing of the residential apartment were linked as part of the same operation.
The attacks come amid continued Israeli bombardment across the Gaza Strip despite ongoing ceasefire discussions, as civilians continue to bear the brunt of the escalating violence and repeated strikes on residential areas.
