Gaza Herald – United Nations experts have called for an immediate end to attacks on shelters housing displaced civilians in Gaza and a halt to forced displacement operations in the occupied West Bank, warning that current patterns are making life unlivable for Palestinians.
According to a report cited by Anadolu Agency, the experts expressed serious concern over repeated Israeli military strikes targeting known displacement sites in Gaza, as well as an intensifying pattern of forced displacement in the occupied West Bank, including the eastern part of the occupied Jerusalem.
They warned that targeting areas sheltering civilians constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law. They also noted that, following repeated evacuation orders and widespread destruction affecting a large proportion of housing, most of Gaza’s population has been displaced multiple times, amounting to forced displacement.
The experts further highlighted that tens of thousands of Palestinians have been displaced in the occupied West Bank amid continued expansion of settlements and ongoing demolitions, urging the international community to take action and hold those responsible accountable.
They concluded that the scale and pattern of these actions, combined with mass displacement in Gaza, indicate a broader policy leading to the dispossession of Palestinians, stressing that such practices may amount to serious violations of international law requiring accountability.
