Two Injured as Wall Collapses onto Displaced Palestinians’ Tents in Gaza

Gaza Heavy – Two Palestinians were injured today after a wall fell onto tents housing displaced families near central Gaza City, caused by heavy rain and strong winds accompanying the recent weather system.

Local sources reported that the incident occurred near Abu Asi Station on Al-Wehda Street, where the collapsing wall struck the tents.

The General Directorate of Civil Defense in Gaza urged residents to take necessary safety precautions to reduce risks from the ongoing severe weather, which is expected to include strong winds and heavy rainfall.

Warnings are focused particularly on displaced families living in tents or in structurally compromised buildings that have been previously targeted by Israeli airstrikes, emphasizing that such structures should be evacuated if found unsafe.

The civil defense stressed the importance of securing tent poles firmly, reinforcing shelters with sandbags, and creating channels to divert rainwater away to minimize flooding or collapse risks. They also advised against placing tents near damaged buildings to avoid potential harm from falling walls or concrete debris.

Previous reports indicated that winter storms in Gaza since the start of the season have caused the collapse of more than 50 homes and damaged structures, resulting in dozens of casualties and injuries among residents.
