Three Killed After War-Damaged Building Collapses on Displaced Families in Khan Younis

Gaza Herald – Three displaced Palestinians were killed and several others injured late Sunday after part of a building previously damaged by Israeli bombardment collapsed onto tents sheltering families in Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, according to local sources.

Civil defense crews said a wall from the damaged Rabat College building gave way and fell onto tents housing displaced civilians. Rescue teams completed search operations at the scene and confirmed three fatalities along with multiple injuries of varying severity.

The victims were identified as Intisar Odeh Abu Dan, 65; Tasneem Iyad Barbakh, 19; and five-year-old Husni Raafat Husni Abu Taha, according to the Civil Defense in Khan Younis.

The incident underscored the growing dangers facing thousands of displaced families who have been forced to pitch tents near destroyed or partially collapsed structures after their homes were flattened during Israel’s genocide on the Gaza Strip.

Emergency responders and engineers have repeatedly warned that hundreds of buildings across Gaza remain structurally unstable after months of bombardment and could collapse at any moment, particularly as displaced families continue to use nearby areas as makeshift shelters.

With limited equipment and resources to remove debris or secure damaged structures, similar incidents have occurred in several parts of the enclave, adding further casualties to the already mounting toll of the war.
