Gaza Herald – Amid a sharp drop in temperatures across the Gaza Strip, Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal issued an urgent warning urging residents to exercise extreme caution, especially as cold waves intensify.
Basal called on families to closely monitor children and vulnerable populations, particularly those living in tents, to ensure their safety and protect them from the harsh winter conditions.
According to the statement released Thursday, prolonged exposure to the cold could lead to serious health complications and, in some cases, fatal outcomes. He stressed that safeguarding citizens is a shared responsibility and urged everyone to take all possible preventive measures during this critical period.
With winter storms continuing to batter Gaza and surrounding areas, the suffering of displaced populations in tents has worsened, leaving tens of thousands of shelters flooded and creating unprecedented humanitarian disasters, claiming the lives of children, the elderly, and the sick.
