Gaza Herald – Gaza’s Civil Defense teams retrieved today 50 bodies from the Salah Al-Din Mosque grounds in Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southern Gaza City, preparing them for proper burial in official cemeteries.
The bodies had been buried during the genocidal war in Gaza, authorities said, and teams are documenting each victim, assigning numbers, and collecting biological samples for future DNA identification.
Earlier operations included the recovery of 48 bodies from mass graves at Al-Ma’madani Hospital in December, including 25 unidentified victims, all transferred to official cemeteries.
Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal emphasized that the process aims to honor the victims and clear hospital grounds for safer medical operations.
Throughout the genocide, hundreds of bodies were buried in public spaces, gardens, schools, and streets due to security risks and the occupation’s control of cemetery areas, with dozens of informal graves documented across Gaza.
