Israeli Forces Open Fire, Renew Shelling in Eastern Gaza

Gaza Herald – Israeli forces continued on Friday to violate the Gaza ceasefire for the 104th consecutive day, carrying out heavy gunfire and artillery shelling across multiple areas of the eastern part of the Strip, according to local sources.

Israeli military vehicles opened fire toward eastern Deir al-Balah in central Gaza and eastern Khan Younis in the south, amid ongoing military activity that has persisted despite the formal entry into the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.

At the same time, Israeli authorities continued to breach the agreement’s humanitarian protocol by blocking the entry of shelter and relief supplies, leaving hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians exposed in fragile tents. The restrictions have contributed to a deepening humanitarian catastrophe, with dozens reported to have died from cold exposure during recent winter storms.

Under the ceasefire terms, Israeli forces were required to withdraw from areas near the so-called buffer or “yellow line,” yet troops have continued to fire indiscriminately at civilians in nearby areas. Since the ceasefire took effect on 10 October, Israeli violations have resulted in the killing of 492 Palestinians and the injury of at least 1,301 others, local authorities said.
