Gaza Death Toll Climbs as Israeli Violations Persist Despite Ceasefire

Gaza Herald – Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that one Palestinian was killed and seven others wounded over the past 24 hours, as Israeli violations continued despite the ceasefire in place. Several victims remain trapped under rubble or stranded in streets, with rescue teams unable to reach them.

The ministry said the cumulative toll since the start of Israel’s genocide on Gaza on October 7, 2023, has risen to 71,551 killed and 171,372 injured, amid what officials describe as a sustained campaign of mass destruction and civilian targeting.

Since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, Israeli violations have killed 466 Palestinians and injured 1,294 others, while 713 bodies were recovered from beneath the rubble of destroyed buildings.

The ministry also announced the death of six-month-old Shatha Abu Jarad, who succumbed to extreme cold, raising the number of children who have died from exposure this winter to nine, as displaced families remain sheltering in inadequate tents.

Health officials said the figures reflect an ongoing humanitarian catastrophe, marked by large-scale killing, displacement, hunger, and infrastructure collapse, as Gaza’s population continues to endure the consequences of a prolonged and devastating genocide.
