Gaza Herald – At least 100 Palestinian children have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire began three months ago, the United Nations said on Tuesday, underscoring that Israeli attacks have continued despite the truce.
Speaking from Gaza City, UNICEF spokesperson James Elder told reporters in Geneva that more than 100 children, nearly one child a day, have been killed since early October. The deaths occurred during the period that was meant to mark a halt to hostilities.
According to UNICEF, children were killed by Israeli airstrikes, drone attacks, including suicide drones, tank shelling, and live ammunition. Almost all of the victims, including around 60 boys and 40 girls, were killed in military attacks.
Elder warned that survival in Gaza remains uncertain, stressing that while the intensity of bombardment has slowed under the ceasefire, it has not stopped. He added that the true death toll is likely higher, as the figures only include cases that could be fully verified.
The UN says the continued killing of children during a ceasefire highlights the fragility of the agreement and deepens Gaza’s ongoing humanitarian crisis, where civilians, especially children, remain exposed to deadly violence.
