Gaza Herald – At least 50 residential buildings collapsed, more than 127,000 displacement tents became uninhabitable, and over 1.5 million displaced Palestinians were left without adequate shelter as severe winter weather swept across Gaza, according to the Government Media Office.
The collapses involved homes and buildings that had been previously damaged by Israeli bombardment, killing and injuring dozens of civilians who had taken refuge in unsafe structures after losing their original homes, amid the absence of any viable shelter alternatives.
Officials also confirmed deaths caused by extreme cold inside displacement tents, as harsh weather conditions compounded the impact of widespread destruction and prolonged displacement.
Authorities warned that the collapse of shelter systems and the failure of tens of thousands of tents have pushed Gaza into a deepening humanitarian emergency, where exposure, structural collapse, and preventable deaths are becoming daily realities.
