Gaza Birth Rate Plummets Amid Rising Miscarriages

Gaza Herald – The Palestinian Health Ministry reported a 40% drop in births across Gaza, accompanied by a sharp rise in miscarriages compared with last year. Malnutrition and restricted medical supplies were cited as key factors.

Low birth weight became widespread, highlighting the severe impact of ongoing shortages and wartime conditions on maternal and infant health.

Israeli attacks on fertility centres, including the Basma Centre, destroyed around 4,000 embryos, reflecting what officials described as a deliberate strategy targeting Palestinian reproduction.
