Gaza NGO Network Warns: Hunger Engulfs Gaza as 90% of Residents Are Deprived of Basic Food

Gaza Herald_ Two months after the ceasefire in Gaza, the humanitarian crisis continues to spiral, with forced displacement, economic collapse, and widespread hunger shaping daily life for the besieged population. Amjad Al-Shawa, director of the Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network in Gaza, says the situation is worsening by the day, with no meaningful relief in sight.

According to Al-Shawa, Israeli policies have effectively compressed hundreds of thousands of Palestinians into just 41% of Gaza’s territory, less than 100 square kilometers, while systematically destroying homes and infrastructure. More than half a million people have been rendered homeless, and thousands more are surviving inside partially destroyed buildings, exposed to danger and deprivation.

The economic strangulation of the Strip has pushed 90% of residents into extreme hardship, leaving them unable to afford even the most necessities. Rampant shortages, inflated prices, and the destruction of livelihoods have converged with a collapsing public health environment, marked by uncollected waste and the near-total breakdown of water and sewage systems.
