18 Killed as War-Damaged Buildings Collapse Across Gaza

Gaza Herald – Eighteen Palestinians were killed after 46 war-damaged buildings collapsed across the Gaza Strip since the ceasefire took effect in October, Gaza’s Ministry of Interior and National Security said, warning of a growing humanitarian disaster.

In a statement, the ministry said the latest incident occurred Saturday night in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City, where a partially damaged building collapsed on residents, killing four people, including two children, whose bodies were pulled from the rubble hours later. Several others were rescued alive as search efforts continued under dangerous conditions.

Officials warned that the crisis was intensifying as Israel continued to block reconstruction materials and refuse the entry of temporary housing units, leaving displaced families with no option but to shelter in cracked, unstable buildings. Winter storms, heavy rain, and strong winds have further weakened structures already damaged by Israeli bombardment.

The ministry urged the international community to act immediately to pressure Israel to allow reconstruction supplies and temporary shelters into Gaza, stressing that continued delays would place hundreds of thousands of civilians at direct risk of death amid the ongoing aftermath of Israel’s war and systematic destruction of civilian infrastructure.
