Gaza in “Catastrophic Freefall” as World Silent on Israeli Occupation’s Aid Blockade

Gaza Herald – UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Housing Balakrishnan Rajagopal warned that Gaza is facing a catastrophic humanitarian collapse, accusing the Israeli occupation of violating the ceasefire by blocking life-saving aid. He said the world is “silent” as the occupation prevents assistance from entering the enclave.

Rajagopal described conditions in Gaza as “slow-motion extermination”, calling the suffering “unmatched in any modern conflict” and adding that what is happening amounts to “sadism and a prolonged form of annihilation”, according to his statements to Al Jazeera Mubasher. He urged the international community to intervene and hold the Israeli occupation accountable.

His remarks come as Palestinian authorities and multiple rights groups say the ongoing campaign of extermination has produced more than 241,000 Palestinians killed or wounded, most of them children and women, alongside over 11,000 missing, mass displacement, and widespread starvation.

The destruction, documented by humanitarian agencies, has erased large parts of Gaza’s cities and civilian infrastructure, leaving hundreds of thousands without shelter and pushing the territory further into an unprecedented humanitarian abyss.
