Gaza Herald – Reporters Without Borders (RSF) said the Israeli occupation is responsible for nearly half of all journalists killed worldwide this year.
The RSF reported that 29 Palestinian journalists were killed in Gaza, marking 43% of global journalist fatalities between December 2024 and November 2025. RSF labels the occupation’s military “the worst enemy of journalists.”
The watchdog reports 67 journalists killed worldwide, with Gaza representing the epicenter of lethal targeting. The deadliest strike, according to RSF, came on August 25, when a “double-tap” attack on a southern Gaza hospital killed five journalists, including contributors to Reuters and the Associated Press. Since October 2023, RSF records nearly 220 journalists killed, making the Israeli occupation the leading killer of media workers for three consecutive years.
Press access to Gaza remains severely restricted, with foreign correspondents limited to army-controlled tours, despite international demands for independent and unrestricted reporting from a territory enduring what Palestinian institutions and multiple rights groups describe as a campaign of extermination against civilians and media workers.
