Health Ministry Warns of Alarming Surge in Amputations and Lifelong Disabilities

Gaza Herald – The Gaza Health Ministry said Friday that Israel’s two-year genocidal war has produced an unprecedented wave of life-altering injuries among children, with 22% of all amputations recorded in Gaza involving minors. Doctors warn that many of these amputations were caused by high-explosive munitions designed to tear through bodies, leaving children with irreversible physical trauma.

The ministry added that 28% of all diagnosed cases of cerebral palsy since the start of the genocide are children, a direct consequence of repeated blast exposure, oxygen deprivation during airstrikes, untreated infections, and the collapse of Gaza’s medical infrastructure under siege. Health experts say these children will require lifelong treatment that Gaza’s shattered health system is now too crippled to provide.

According to medical teams across the Strip, thousands of injured children are surviving without prosthetics, rehabilitation services, or postoperative care, as hospitals operate without electricity, anesthesia, or specialized equipment. Humanitarian workers warn that Gaza is witnessing one of the highest child-injury rates of any conflict in modern history, a legacy of genocide that will shape an entire generation long after the bombs stop falling.
