Gaza Herald- Ismail Al-Thawabta, Director of the Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza, revealed that the rate of malnutrition among the population has exceeded 90%.
He warned that this alarming health deterioration is a direct result of Israel’s ongoing policy of “deliberate starvation,” enforced by severely limiting the flow of essential aid into the Strip.
In a statement to Anadolu Agency, Thawabta said that Israeli authorities are allowing only around 200 trucks of aid to enter Gaza daily—far below the 600-truck minimum stipulated in the binding humanitarian protocol agreed upon after the ceasefire.
He added: “What actually enters is less than one-third of the required amount, proving that hunger is being deliberately managed slowly and cumulatively.”
Thawabta explained that Israel is preventing dozens of essential food items from reaching Gaza, including red and white meat, proteins, table eggs, dairy products, and other vital items necessary for growth and health. This deepens the already widespread malnutrition crisis among citizens.
He also noted that Israel has failed to comply with the terms of the ceasefire agreement reached with Hamas on October 10, which mandates the daily entry of 600 aid trucks.
According to data from the Government Media Office, Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement over 497 times and has killed 342 Palestinians since the deal was signed.
On another note, Thawabta confirmed that Israel continues to block the entry of heavy equipment and machinery essential for civil defense teams to retrieve bodies from under the rubble, describing it as a “blatant violation of all humanitarian laws.”
He stressed that the blockade remains fully in place and that Israel is using it as a tool to control the flow of goods and manufacture a more fragile humanitarian environment.
He added that this continued pattern of behavior amounts to a “compound crime of deliberate starvation and obstruction of relief,” and called on mediators and guarantors to exert serious pressure on Israel to fulfill its obligations and halt violations immediately.
The ceasefire agreement ended a campaign of genocide launched by Israel on October 8, 2023, which lasted two years and left over 69,000 Palestinians dead, more than 170,000 injured, and massive destruction affecting 90% of civilian infrastructure, with estimated initial damages reaching $70 billion.
