Day 43 of Gaza Ceasefire: 22 Killed Amid Israeli Escalation

Gaza Herald- For the 43rd consecutive day, the Israeli occupation forces continue to breach the ceasefire agreement, escalating attacks that further undermine truce efforts and worsen the already dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Israeli airstrikes targeting a civilian vehicle and residential homes have resulted in the deaths of 22 Palestinians, echoing a pattern of ongoing violations since the ceasefire began, and raising serious concerns about the effectiveness of international mediation in protecting civilians.

On Saturday afternoon, five Palestinians were killed and others injured when Israeli drones struck a car in Gaza City near Al-Abbas junction. Separately, four others were killed and several wounded after Israeli warplanes bombed the home of the Abed family in a densely populated area near Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque, west of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.

In another strike, three Palestinians were killed and others injured when a home belonging to the Abu Amonah family near Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat camp was bombed. Similarly, three more were killed in an airstrike on the Al-Khodari family home in Al-Labbabidi Street, in Gaza City’s Al-Nasr neighborhood.

The Israeli army claimed it killed five Palestinians, alleging three emerged from a tunnel and tried to hide in Rafah, while the other two supposedly crossed the “yellow line” and approached Israeli forces in the north.

Medical sources in Gaza hospitals confirmed the 22 deaths from Israeli air raids across Deir al-Balah, Nuseirat, and Gaza City.

Since dawn, Israeli forces have intensified their aerial and artillery bombardment, demolishing residential buildings and infrastructure throughout the Strip. Eyewitnesses told Anadolu Agency that dozens of airstrikes hit areas supposedly under Israeli control per the ceasefire, particularly in eastern Rafah and Khan Younis.

The strikes also targeted parts of Al-Tuffah and Al-Shuja’iya neighborhoods in northern Gaza, accompanied by the use of explosive-laden vehicles and heavy artillery shelling, particularly in eastern Deir al-Balah.

Earlier today, three Palestinians were shot and wounded by Israeli forces in central and northern Gaza, and one body was recovered from Tel al-Hawa in southwest Gaza following an earlier strike.

On Friday, three Palestinians were killed and others injured after Israeli jets bombed a house in Bani Suheila, east of Khan Younis. Another displaced Palestinian was also killed in southern Khan Younis, according to Nasser Medical Complex.

Since the ceasefire on October 10, Israeli attacks have killed 323 people and injured 788. Since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, the death toll in Gaza has reached 69,738, with 170,863 injured, most of them women and children.

Medical sources confirmed that many victims remain trapped under the rubble, with rescue teams unable to reach them due to the intensity of the bombardment.

Meanwhile, Gaza’s Civil Defense postponed its planned press conference to announce the launch of the first phase of body retrieval efforts due to an unexpected technical issue. A new date will be announced later via media outlets.

Frantz Løv, Emergency Coordinator for Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Gaza, warned that humanitarian aid entering the Strip remains grossly inadequate despite the ceasefire. He cautioned that without tangible improvement, Gaza’s residents will soon face harsh winter conditions with no shelter or support.

He also noted that numerous Palestinians have died as a result of continued Israeli ceasefire violations since the truce was agreed upon on October 10.
