Gaza Herald – The US administration is planning to establish a large military base in Israel near the Gaza border, according to Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, citing an Israeli source.
The news comes as the Turkish government finalizes plans to deploy hundreds of soldiers to Gaza as part of an international peacekeeping force, amid ongoing negotiations with the US and Israel on the matter.
Over the past few weeks, a peacekeeping brigade estimated to include more than 2,000 soldiers has been recruiting personnel from across the country.
Soldiers from multiple branches of the army, all with prior peacekeeping and conflict-zone experience, will form the contingent that is scheduled to join the international stabilization force in Gaza alongside other partner countries.
Under the Gaza peace plan, brokered by US President Donald Trump, Turkey is envisioned as one of the main countries to assume control over significant areas of the Palestinian enclave currently held by Hamas.
