Gaza Families Reunite with Freed Detainees as Israel Continues Deadly Ceasefire Violations

Gaza Herald – Emotional scenes unfolded in Gaza as Israel unexpectedly released five Palestinian detainees. Medical teams at Al-Aqsa Hospital conducted urgent evaluations, as many former detainees suffer the effects of detention conditions, starvation, and abuse. Yet for many families, the joy was incomplete; numerous others were left heartbroken, still waiting for their loved ones to return.

Earlier today, Israel also handed over the bodies of 45 Palestinian martyrs it had held for months. Identification efforts are set to begin tomorrow, as families brace for the possibility of recognizing sons, daughters, parents, or being met with painful uncertainty.

Despite the ongoing ceasefire, Israeli forces continue to carry out attacks across Gaza. A school sheltering displaced families in Shujayea was targeted during a wedding, injuring several civilians, including a child. In Rafah and eastern Khan Younis, Israeli troops killed three Palestinians and demolished additional residential homes.

For Palestinians across Gaza, the message remains clear: even under a ceasefire, no place is safe. The genocide continues, not only through bombs, but through starvation, displacement, the withholding of bodies, and the slow erasure of life and memory.
