Gaza Herald – Israeli naval forces have arrested five Palestinian fishermen off the coast of Gaza City today, seizing their boat and transferring them to an undisclosed location.
The fishermen’s union confirmed the detentions, calling the act part of Israel’s ongoing policy of collective punishment and economic strangulation of Gaza’s civilian population.
This targeting of fishermen is a long-standing tactic in Israel’s genocidal campaign, effectively choking Gaza’s main source of livelihood and food security. Fishermen routinely face arrests, live fire, and boat confiscations even while operating within the narrow sea limits imposed by Israel.
