UN: Gaza Buried Beneath 61 Million Tonnes of Rubble After Two Years of Genocide

Gaza Herald – A new UN report reveals Gaza is now buried under more than 61 million tonnes of rubble, with nearly three-quarters of all buildings wiped out after two years of relentless Israeli bombardment.

According to the UN Environment Program (UNEP), most of the destruction occurred during the first five months of Israel’s genocidal campaign, with an additional 8 million tonnes of debris generated between April and July 2025, primarily in the southern cities of Rafah and Khan Younis.

Satellite data from the UN Satellite Centre confirms that over 193,000 buildings, 78% of Gaza’s structures, have been obliterated, leaving behind toxic waste, poisoned air, and a generation struggling to survive beneath the ruins.
