Israel Bombs ‘Safe Zone’ Despite Announced Military Pause

Gaza Herald– Israel has launched deadly attacks across the Gaza Strip, killing more than 53 Palestinians including 32 people who were seeking humanitarian aid just hours after it declared a so-called “tactical suspension” of military operations in select areas.

Gaza Herald field reporter said that airstrikes targeted a location in Gaza City that Israel itself had previously labeled as a “safe zone.”

One of the strikes hit a bakery, killing at least five Palestinians, including a mother and her four children, and wounding several others, according to health officials.

Earlier on Sunday, the Israeli military had claimed it would pause its operations daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time in the areas of al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balah, and parts of Gaza City. This pause was said to be part of a broader plan to facilitate humanitarian aid and establish “secured corridors” from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

However, the continued attacks on civilians and supposed safe zones cast serious doubt on Israel’s claims of humanitarian concern.

Despite these declarations, the continued bombardment of civilian areas and so-called safe zones reveals the deep contradictions in Israel’s narrative. As Palestinians are killed while searching for food and shelter, international calls for genuine protection of civilians and accountability grow louder.
