Gaza Herald- The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza deepened further today as the Ministry of Health announced that Israeli attacks over the past 24 hours had killed 113 Palestinians and wounded 637, bringing the total number of people killed since the beginning of Israel’s assault to over 60,000, with nearly 146,000 wounded.
According to Gaza hospitals, 92 people were killed by Israeli fire on Monday alone, including 40 children, in what has become a daily cycle of bombardment, starvation, and mass civilian casualties.
At Al-Awda Hospital, medical staff reported a particularly horrifying incident: 30 Palestinians, including 26 women and children, were killed in an overnight Israeli airstrike on homes in the new camp north of Nuseirat. Medical sources said most of the bodies arrived in pieces.
“The targeted homes were destroyed on top of their residents without warning,” one medic said. “Many people are still missing under the rubble.”
The heavy shelling of Nuseirat followed a day in which dozens of starving Palestinians were also killed while trying to obtain food. The hunger-stricken have become regular targets, as desperation pushes civilians to gather near aid distribution points despite the high risk of being bombed or shot.
On Monday, Al-Awda Hospital confirmed that 15 people were killed and others wounded by Israeli forces near the Netzarim junction in central Gaza while waiting for food. Around the same time, 10 others were injured in an Israeli bombardment on another food line at the Nablus junction in Gaza City.
In Khan Yunis, the Nasser Medical Complex reported that Israeli forces opened fire on a crowd in the Shakoosh area, near an aid control point northwest of Rafah, killing seven and injuring others.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, Israeli forces killed 22 Palestinians and wounded 199 others attempting to receive aid in the past 24 hours alone.
Meanwhile, artillery shelling resumed north of Nuseirat camp, and Israeli drones targeted residential homes in the nearby Al-Bureij camp, compounding the suffering of displaced and starving civilians.
Global Condemnation Mounts
The continued bombardment comes as global criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza intensifies. Two of Israel’s leading human rights organizations, B’Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights–Israel (PHRI), released reports on Monday accusing the Israeli government of committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
PHRI’s report presented a detailed legal analysis focused on the destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system and concluded that Israel’s assault meets the definition of genocide under the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, which Israel has signed.
B’Tselem’s findings mirrored those of PHRI, documenting patterns of systematic killing, forced displacement, and deprivation.
Gaza on the Brink of Famine
As the bombs fall, hunger is proving just as deadly. On Tuesday, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), the world’s leading hunger monitoring authority, issued a grim warning: “The worst-case scenario of famine is currently unfolding in Gaza.”
“Famine thresholds have been reached for food consumption in most of the Gaza Strip and for acute malnutrition in Gaza City,” the IPC reported.
With more than 2 million people trapped under siege, Gaza is now facing mass hunger. Since March 2025, Israel has sealed all border crossings, effectively cutting off food, medical supplies, and humanitarian aid. Aid convoys have been targeted or denied entry, and those queuing for relief are often shot at.
Hospitals, already on the verge of collapse, are overwhelmed with cases of starvation, blast injuries, and untreated infections. Fuel shortages and destroyed infrastructure have further crippled the health system.
What is happening in Gaza is not just a humanitarian disaster; it is a genocidal war marked by systematic killing, starvation, and the deliberate targeting of civilians. The death toll, the bombed-out hospitals, and the cries from beneath the rubble speak to a singular truth: Gaza is being destroyed, one airstrike, one aid line, and one child at a time.
