UN Adds Israel to “Blacklist” for Conflict-Related Sexual Violence

Gaza Herald – The United Nations has added Israel to its “blacklist” of parties accused of committing conflict-related sexual violence, according to Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon, who said the list also includes groups classified as “terrorist organizations,” such as ISIS.

Danon claimed the decision was “political and detached from facts and reality,” claiming that Israel had submitted documents, evidence, and detailed responses to all allegations. He also said Israeli occupation invited UN representatives to visit the field and examine the situation directly, but that they declined to do so.

According to reports published by the Israeli outlet Ynet, the UN is preparing to officially announce the inclusion of Israeli bodies in the list of states and organizations accused of committing sexual violence in conflict zones.

The report stated that the Israeli Prison Service is among the entities expected to be listed, alongside other Israeli authorities placed under a “monitoring framework” that could lead to broader future inclusion.

The development comes amid increasing Palestinian and international reports documenting abuses against Palestinian detainees and prisoners held in Israeli prisons and detention centers.

Human rights organizations and media outlets have published numerous testimonies from Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank describing torture, humiliation, and forms of sexual abuse during kidnapping, interrogation, and detention.

The issue has drawn growing international attention following recent reports and footage related to the treatment of detainees, including activists detained after participating in solidarity missions attempting to break the blockade on Gaza.
